How to adopt a dog from the NYCACC.

The NYCACC has a great search tool you can use to find their adoptable pets and locations. They also host adoption events where you can visit pets in person.
- What is the adoption process?
Before you show up you’re asked to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire (Spanish version.)
- How long will the adoption process take?
It should take a few hours. During that time you’ll get to meet your prospective pets and you’ll receive a counseling session.
- Do I need to bring anything with me?
To adopt an animal you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid photo id. You also need to bring proof of your current address. It’s also recommended you bring all family members to meet the pet.
